Two pictures -- one taken today and one a couple of weeks ago. I saw these yellow signs around town, but particularly around my school. The TCF was driving me crazy until they used a parking lot across from my school as a staging area, or base camp. TCF means Twentieth Century Fox which I figured out once I saw the trucks. There is only one sign left near my school -- the rest have been taken up. A story in the paper today said they had finished filming on Jekyll Island and were to begin beach restoration.

Picture may look a little strange but it is of my empty computer lab at school. My 1st semester assignment is at an end and I am moving on to another assignment for the 2nd semester.

Not too inspired today. Did take a flash picture of the stump of a tree we cut down in 2010. We had left it after cutting the first batch of trees the year before, but it started looking a little funny. With the storms, etc., we have had since cutting it down, I am glad we did.

The second picture I took with the little camera yesterday as we traveled around. It was taken from a activity shed at Blythe Island Regional Park and is looking toward the new Sidney Lanier Bridge.

Nana had to go downtown Brunswick this morning, so we grabbed our new point and shoot cameras from Christmas (very compact Canons -- her*s an SD940 and mine an SD1400). We had no idea if we would need them, but, as Ken Rockwell says, *the best camera is the one you have with you.* I went to get some coffee as I waited on her. At the coffee shop I found out Twentieth Century Fox was doing some filming on Newcastle Street a couple of blocks down the street. When Nana arrived, we decided to go see what was going on. We had cameras with us, so we were able shoot some things. We also went shooting around town and went out again later to get some more shots around town.

While this is not a great shot, it is to remind that TCF has been around town for about a month at various places, including near my school. Today they were shooting palm trees against a blue background. They had a large fan on site for wind. It was not needed as the wind blew consistently all day at about 25 mph.

I am including a shot of the overall scene on half a city block, and another of a palm tree against the blue background. It will be interesting to see if palm trees make it into the final X-men sequel movie.

I needed a picture today (will probably happen a lot) and took this one. It is an alabaster container I gave Nana for anniversary this year with a battery tea light. I did adjust the the camera for more amber by using the shade white balance. It was handheld on the floor.

I saw this leaving Nana's office today. It is the parking lot across the street. I used the tree to block the direct light from the security light and took the picture at maximum ISO handheld.

Some of my photos will be experiments. Using the same Nikon point and shoot from yesterday, I was struck by the strong colors of the dashboard in my car. This is a handheld shot (no flash) after sunset in my car. The colors came out quite well using auto white balance.

I remembered to take a camera to school today and I was glad I did. There were clouds in the sky when I left and there was some rain in the area. This photo was taken from an outside door at my school because it had started to rain. I could not frame the photo as well as I would have liked, but the red was incredible.

This was taken with a Nikon point and shoot that is a couple of years old.

First day back at school after the holidays. We were in the Golden Hour when I got home and I saw the setting sun in the trees at my house. I ran in and got my camera as I searched for a good spot to emphasize the golden light on the golden leaves.

I was working on school stuff all day so I did not get out so I had to find a photo around the house. We had strong wind and rain and I heard our chimes on the porch. This is the weight/spinner that drives the chime striker. I caught it as it was spinning with the wind.

Railroad Bridge

My first blog. Based upon my DD doing this a couple of years ago, I have decided to try a project 365 myself. This is the first picture for 2011, a railroad bridge on US 341 across the Ocmulgee River at Lumber City, GA.
